Education is the Best Weapon

About the project:

Prior to the military dictatorship, there were no taxes on books in Chile. However, in 1976 under a censorship law imposed by Pinochet, books were given the highest tax rate  around the world. Culture was considered a dangerous weapon by the military regime. With the return to democracy, the military arsenal continues tax free as it is considered of prime importance to the country, but books continue under the same high (excessive) tax rate that impedes the free access to culture for a large part of Chile. Therefore, the reflection that the only way a book will not pay taxes is to print them on weapons. This is the idea we are realizing in our campaign with the purpose to promote a debate in the population. What are the arms that we, as a country really need?
